In the previous trading session, Indian equity markets witnessed selective buying interest as investors tracked quarterly earnings announcements, regulatory developments and strategic corporate updates. 

Market participants are expected to closely monitor company-specific developments including acquisitions, regulatory approvals, project wins and fundraising activities that may influence stock-specific action during today’s trade. 

Tata Steel Ltd 

Tata Steel reported a strong set of quarterly earnings for the fourth quarter on a consolidated basis. The company’s net profit surged 146.9% year-on-year to ₹2,965 crore compared to ₹1,200.9 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue also increased 12.5% to ₹63,270.1 crore, reflecting improved operational performance. 

ITC Hotels Ltd 

ITC Hotels posted healthy fourth-quarter earnings with consolidated profit rising 23% year-on-year to ₹315.9 crore. Revenue increased 18.2% to ₹1,253.7 crore, supported by strong demand across hospitality and travel segments. 

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd 

Power Grid Corporation reported a 9.7% increase in consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter at ₹4,546.3 crore. However, revenue declined 5% year-on-year to ₹11,665.6 crore, which may keep the stock in focus. 

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) 

Steel Authority of India reported a 46.6% jump in consolidated quarterly profit to ₹1,835.5 crore. Revenue increased 5.1% year-on-year to ₹30,813.5 crore, reflecting improved steel demand and operational efficiency. 

Godfrey Phillips India Ltd 

Godfrey Phillips delivered strong fourth-quarter earnings with profit rising 86.7% year-on-year to ₹521.4 crore. Revenue also increased 13.6% to ₹1,787.3 crore, indicating robust business growth. 

Coal India Ltd 

The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has approved the listing of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India. The proposed listing includes a fresh issue of equity shares and a potential divestment of up to 25% stake by Coal India through an offer for sale. 

The development is expected to remain in focus as investors assess the implications of the proposed public offering and future capital raising plans. 

RBL Bank Ltd 

RBL Bank announced the completion of the regulatory and governmental approval process related to the proposed strategic investment by Emirates NBD Bank. The Ministry of Finance has approved Emirates NBD Bank’s proposal to acquire more than 49% and up to a 74% stake in the bank. 

HFCL Ltd 

HFCL, through its overseas subsidiary, secured an export order worth approximately $11.07 million (around ₹106.19 crore) from an international customer for the supply of optical fibre cables. The order highlights the company’s continued expansion in global telecom infrastructure markets. 

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd 

Aurobindo Pharma’s subsidiary, CuraTeQ Biologics, received marketing authorisation from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for Bevqolva, a bevacizumab biosimilar used for the treatment of metastatic carcinoma of the colon or rectum. 

The approval permits manufacturing and commercialisation of the product in India, strengthening the company’s biologics portfolio.

Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd 

The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) conducted a current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) inspection at Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ formulations facility in Sanand, Ahmedabad, between May 6 and May 15, 2026. 

At the conclusion of the inspection, the US FDA issued a Form 483 with seven procedural observations. Investors are likely to monitor further developments regarding compliance measures. 

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd 

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone’s subsidiary, Adani Harbour International FZCO, entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire a 51% stake in Meridian Transportes Marítimos SA. The acquisition is expected to strengthen the company’s international logistics and maritime presence. 

REC Ltd and Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC) 

The Board of Directors has reserved the proposal for the merger of REC into PFC for approval by the President of India. Upon completion of the merger process, all assets and liabilities of REC would be transferred to PFC. 

Aditya Birla Capital Ltd 

Aditya Birla Capital announced that its Board of Directors will meet on May 20 to consider and approve a proposal for fundraising, which may attract investor attention. 

Conclusion 

Quarterly earnings, regulatory approvals, export orders, acquisitions and strategic investment developments are likely to drive stock-specific movement in today’s trading session.
