On October 24, 2025, RailTel Corporation of India Limited informed the stock exchanges about the cancellation of a major work order issued by the Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC). The project, valued at ₹2,09,78,63,937, was aimed at implementing education quality enhancement initiatives in Bihar under the PM SHRI scheme.

Cancellation of Work Order by BEPC

RailTel had previously announced the receipt of this large-scale project through a letter of acceptance dated September 13, 2025. The order, issued by the State Project Director, BEPC, involved the implementation of technology-enabled solutions for improving educational quality across schools in Bihar.

However, as per the latest communication, BEPC has cancelled the work order due to unavoidable reasons. The company has confirmed the development under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Project Background and Significance

The ₹209.79 crore project was a significant addition to RailTel’s education and digital infrastructure portfolio. The initiative was expected to strengthen RailTel’s position in state-level digital education projects and contribute to the government’s PM SHRI mission focused on improving school quality. With this cancellation, RailTel will no longer execute the planned work under the Bihar Education Project Council’s scope.

Regulatory Disclosure and Company Statement

In its official intimation, RailTel clarified that the cancellation was made solely by the customer and did not involve any operational lapse from the company’s side. The corporation reaffirmed compliance with SEBI disclosure requirements and assured stakeholders that this update has been duly recorded with both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE Limited.

Conclusion

The cancellation of the ₹209.79 crore Bihar education project represents a temporary setback for RailTel’s state-level initiatives. Nevertheless, the company remains focused on expanding its presence in digital infrastructure, education technology, and government connectivity projects across India.
