Conclusion

On Monday, September 28, 2026, the NIFTY SMALLCAP 100 Index plunged by 1.40% by afternoon, weighed down by widespread risk-off sentiment. While energy and shipping players like MRPL and GE Shipping managed to cling to decent gains alongside consumer tech firm FirstCry, heavy damage to small-cap financial, banking, and commercial service scripts like City Union Bank, Manappuram Finance, and IFCI pulled the broader small-cap index down significantly.
