Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said its compact SUV, the Jimny 5-door, has crossed 1 lakh units in cumulative exports from India. Exports began in 2023, soon after the model’s launch in the domestic market. As per the news reports, the vehicle is currently shipped to more than 100 countries, including Japan, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, and Chile.
In Japan, the model is sold as the Jimny Nomade. Since its launch there in January 2025, it received around 50,000 orders within days, according to the company. Other key markets include Latin America and Africa, where demand for compact SUVs has remained steady.
Maruti Suzuki reported 3.32 lakh vehicle exports in FY2024–25, compared with 2.83 lakh units in FY2023-24. Export volumes have increased over the past few years, from 96,139 units in FY2020-21 to 2,38,376 units in FY2021-22, and 2,59,333 units in FY2022-23. The company’s export operations have expanded with more models added to its international portfolio.
The Jimny 5-door is manufactured in India and exported alongside 16 other models. Maruti Suzuki accounts for about 46% of India’s total passenger vehicle exports, making it one of the country’s largest automobile exporters. Vehicles produced in India are shipped to markets across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
The Jimny 5-door uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine and Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel-drive system. It is built on a ladder-frame chassis, suitable for both city driving and off-road conditions. The model is produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Indian manufacturing facilities before being dispatched to overseas markets.
As of October 24, 2025, 9:37 AM, Maruti Suzuki share price was trading at ₹16,359, a 0.21% decline from the previous closing price.
Crossing the 1 lakh export mark places the Jimny 5-door among Maruti Suzuki’s most exported vehicles. The company’s growing export numbers reflect the increasing role of India in global automobile manufacturing.
