India’s upcoming wedding season is projected to generate business worth ₹6.5 lakh crore, according to data from the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). The report, compiled by the CAIT Research and Trade Development Society (CRTDS) across 75 cities, estimates around 46 lakh weddings will take place between 1 November and 14 December 2025.

Though the number of weddings is slightly below the 48 lakh recorded in 2024, the overall value is higher than last year’s ₹5.9 lakh crore, indicating a rise in average spending.

Regional and Sectoral Distribution

The study notes that Delhi will account for the largest share of wedding-related trade, contributing nearly ₹1.8 lakh crore from about 4.8 lakh weddings. Rajasthan and Gujarat continue to see a rise in destination weddings, while Uttar Pradesh and Punjab report higher spending on catering and traditional setups. Southern states are witnessing steady growth in temple and heritage weddings, creating business opportunities in local crafts and hospitality.

Spending Patterns Across Categories

Wedding-related spending covers multiple sectors. Jewellery contributes around 15%, followed by apparel and sarees (10%), catering (10%), and event management (5%). Décor, lighting, travel, and music services add another 3-5%each. The report highlights that both urban and semi-urban markets are seeing higher engagement from small and medium-sized service providers.

Shift Toward Domestic Products

Over 70% of wedding purchases are now sourced from Indian-made goods. The report attributes this shift to the government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative and a general decline in imports of fashion, jewellery, and décor items. Demand for domestic clothing, handcrafted ornaments, and regional décor materials has increased across cities.

Conclusion

The wedding season is expected to create over one crore temporary jobs, mainly in catering, event setup, logistics, and hospitality. It is also likely to add around ₹75,000 crore in tax revenue to the government. The report describes weddings as a recurring driver of business activity and employment across India’s trade network.
