As per news reports, a regulatory filing revealed that more than 3.5 million Alphabet shares were transferred this week, that nearly $1 billion is being allocated to Catalyst4, the nonprofit Brin founded in 2021. The organisation focuses on advancing research in central nervous system disorders and developing climate-change mitigation technologies.
In addition, Brin has directed about $90 million to his family foundation and $45 million to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which specialises in Parkinson’s disease research. Earlier in May, Brin provided another $700 million in Alphabet shares to the same set of charities, continuing his steady philanthropic momentum.
AI Rally Boosts Brin’s Wealth
Brin, aged 52, currently ranks as the world’s 4rth-richest individual with a net worth of $255.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His wealth has risen sharply this year as Alphabet’s stock rise driven by strong advances in the company’s artificial intelligence capabilities.
Holding around 6% of Alphabet, Brin has added $97.3 billion to his fortune so far this year, bolstering his ability to expand his philanthropic initiatives.
