Pramit Jhaveri has informed Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata that he will not seek reappointment as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust when his current term ends on February 11, 2026, as per news reports.

Pramit Jhaveri to Step Down as Trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust

In a letter dated January 31, 2026, Jhaveri confirmed that he has served as a trustee since February 12, 2020, after being invited by the late Ratan N. Tata.

The letter, also copied to the trust’s other trustees and to Siddharth Sharma, CEO of Tata Trusts, states that the decision was discussed earlier with Noel Tata and is now being formally communicated. Jhaveri described his tenure as an honour and extended best wishes to the trust for the years ahead.

Background of Jhaveri’s Tenure

During his six‑year service, Jhaveri participated in the governance of one of the group’s principal philanthropic entities.

The trust holds a significant equity stake in Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata conglomerate. His involvement coincided with several charitable initiatives undertaken by the trust across education, health and rural development.

Sir Dorabji Tata Trust’s Position within Tata Group

The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, together with the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, owns more than 51% of Tata Sons. This majority holding gives the trusts considerable influence over the strategic direction of the group’s diverse businesses.

The trust’s assets are managed to support long‑term social impact projects while preserving the financial health of the Tata enterprises.

Implications of the Departure

Jhaveri’s departure marks the end of a term that began under the leadership of Ratan N. Tata. The trust will now consider new candidates for the vacant trustee position as it continues its philanthropic mission. No immediate changes to the trust’s operations have been announced.

Conclusion

Pramit Jhaveri will step down from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust on February 11, 2026, after a 6-year tenure. His resignation was communicated through a formal letter and follows a period of active involvement in the trust’s governance. The trust will proceed with its charitable activities and will seek a replacement trustee in due course.
