The Greater Bengaluru Municipality is set to hold an e-Khata open house initiative on May 30, 2026.
As part of the 6th Bhoo Guarantee scheme, this initiative focuses on providing instant assistance regarding property tax matters and e-Khata-related services to ensure transparency and legal propriety in property dealings across Bengaluru.
The Bhoo Guarantee scheme, particularly its 6th iteration, emphasises enhancing accountability and legality in Bengaluru's property sector.
An open house session has been announced for May 30, 2026, aiming to assist citizens with on-the-spot resolutions for property tax issues.
The open house events will occur from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM across multiple areas, including Byatarayanpura, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpura, and others.
These sessions are designed to tackle issues related to the Khata process, a crucial component for property legitimacy in Karnataka.
Before the integration of e-Khata in 2024, Bengaluru's property management was plagued by unauthorised layouts and defective ownership records.
The introduction of e-Khata has significantly reduced such transactions, enforcing law compliance and enhancing urban governance.
Over 75,000 unlawful transactions were recorded before e-Khata, largely resolved post-integration.
This system provides statutory backing for recognised property transfers, supported by the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024.
With the advent of e-Khata, property records have moved from opaque manual registers to a transparent digital framework accessible through the BBMP E-Aasthi portal.
This digitisation has automated many processes, reducing corruption and delays.Under the Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, 1961, approvals for urban property subdivision are enforced by e-Khata, curbing illegal property fragmentation.

The initiative, guided by Deputy Chief Minister Shri D.K. Shivakumar, involves conducting over 50 e-Khata open houses every Saturday to address citizens' concerns effectively.
Such measures have improved transparency and diminished the role of middlemen.
The e-Khata framework has consistently withstood legal challenges and been awarded the National e-Governance Award (Gold) in 2025 for its contribution to property administration reform.
The upcoming e-Khata open house on May 30, 2026, reflects Greater Bengaluru's commitment to streamlining property services and fostering legal property transactions. This initiative under the Bhoo Guarantee scheme exemplifies efforts to enhance compliance and transparency in property administration.
