Vehicle owners in Delhi with old pending traffic challans will get an opportunity to settle their cases tomorrow as the National Lok Adalat returns on May 9, 2026. Organised by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), the initiative aims to help motorists resolve minor traffic violations quickly without lengthy legal procedures.
The Lok Adalat will function from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm across major district courts in the national capital, including Saket, Dwarka, Rohini, Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Rouse Avenue, and Karkardooma courts.
The special settlement drive will mainly cover minor traffic offences issued up to January 31, 2026.
Eligible challans include violations such as:
However, serious offences like drunk driving, hit-and-run cases, and major accident-related violations will not be considered during the Lok Adalat.
Authorities have clarified that only individuals who registered in advance will be allowed to participate. The registration window remained open from May 4 to May 7 and is now closed.
Motorists attending tomorrow’s Lok Adalat must carry:
Participants are also advised to visit only the court assigned on their appointment letter.
Pending traffic challans can sometimes lead to legal notices, court appearances, and increasing penalties if left unresolved for long periods. Lok Adalat offers a practical solution by helping citizens close disputes in a single day through mutual settlement.
Importantly, decisions taken during Lok Adalat proceedings are legally binding and final, eliminating the need for further litigation in most cases.
