Despite Gift Nifty indicating a strong positive start to the week, the benchmark index Nifty opened on a flat note. Thereafter, the index witnessed choppy moves on both sides during the day, even slipping below the 23000 mark at one point. However, during the penultimate hour strong buying interest emerged, pushing prices beyond 23500. Amid continued volatility, Nifty eventually ended the session above 23400, gaining 1.11%.
