Uber has officially discontinued its Shuttle service in Delhi NCR, marking the exit of its bus-based commute offering from its last active market in India. The service will cease operations after March 27, with users notified via email that Shuttle rides will no longer be available.

Launched to allow pre-booking on fixed-route buses, Uber Shuttle primarily served office commuters traveling across New Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida. The move comes after the company shut down the service in Mumbai and Hyderabad last year, citing low ridership and high operating costs.

Pivot to Employee Transportation Services (ETS)

While Uber had maintained Shuttle in Delhi NCR, it is now pivoting to Employee Transportation Services (ETS), focusing on corporate commute demand. “Shuttle helped us understand high-capacity mobility and build a strong commuter base. We are now applying these learnings to the growing ETS segment, which offers predictable demand and better utilization,” said an Uber spokesperson noted by Entrackr.

Corporate Focus and Investment

Earlier this year, Uber entered the ETS space, catering to corporate offices, global capability centers, banks, and IT firms. The company recently infused nearly ₹3,000 crore (~$330 million) into Uber India Systems Pvt Ltd, even as ride-hailing revenue dropped sharply, down 89% to ₹88 crore in FY25 from ₹807 crore in FY24.
