Toyota Motor Corporation has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Maharashtra as part of its strategy to expand production capacity in India and nearby markets. The new factory will be set up by Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited in the Bidkin Industrial Area of Maharashtra.

The company stated that the plant is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2029 and will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles.

Facility to Manufacture New SUV Model

The upcoming manufacturing unit will include stamping, welding, painting, and vehicle assembly operations. Toyota said the facility will primarily manufacture a new SUV model aimed at serving customers in India and surrounding export markets.

The plant is expected to generate employment for around 2,800 people during the initial phase of operations, contributing to industrial growth and local economic development in the region.

Focus on Expanding Production Capabilities

Toyota stated that the new facility will strengthen its production structure and help the company respond more efficiently to future demand growth and changing market conditions.

According to the company, India continues to remain an important market for its long-term growth plans. Toyota also highlighted that its business in India has evolved with support from local stakeholders and industry participants who helped develop the country’s automotive ecosystem.

The automaker noted that the expanded production capacity would improve flexibility in catering to customer demand while ensuring timely delivery of vehicles across domestic and nearby international markets.

Contribution to Automotive Industry and Local Communities

Toyota said the project is expected to contribute positively to the development of India’s automotive sector as well as local communities surrounding the manufacturing location.

The company added that the facility would support industrial development, employment generation, and supply chain growth while strengthening the broader automotive manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The expansion also aligns with increasing demand for SUVs and rising automobile consumption in the Indian market.
