Deeptech startup Tattvam AI has raised $1.7 million in pre-seed funding to develop artificial intelligence systems aimed at transforming semiconductor chip design. The round was led by Seedcamp, with participation from EWOR, Entropy Industrial Ventures, Concept Ventures and semiconductor industry veteran Stan Boland.
Tattvam AI is focused on automating the design of custom silicon, specialised processors built for targeted workloads such as AI training and inference. The company is developing a reasoning-based AI system capable of understanding circuit architecture and independently solving complex design challenges.
CEO and co-founder Bragadeesh Suresh Babu said, “Chip design is fundamentally a reasoning problem over an enormous search space.” He added that the company is building a model that understands circuits “from first principles the constraints, the trade-offs, the interdependencies” and can operate “in a fraction of the time.”
By automating key stages of development, the startup aims to compress traditional chip design timelines from 2-3 years to weeks, while lowering costs and enabling faster iteration.
Babu, an alumnus of IIT Madras, previously worked at UK-based startups CoMind and Fractile, and declined an opportunity to join Google’s TPU team to pursue his own venture. He founded Tattvam AI with Lannan Jiang, who has been developing chips at a research lab at ETH Zurich.
Stan Boland described Babu as “one of the most driven, energetic and compelling young founders in today’s chip industry,” adding that the company’s approach to cutting timelines “from years to weeks” is likely to gain traction among leading global teams.
As AI models grow larger and industries such as autonomous mobility and drug discovery demand higher computational capacity, custom silicon has become increasingly strategic. Technology majors including Google and Nvidia, alongside emerging chip startups, are investing heavily in this space.
