Ahead of IPO, PhonePe has introduced an AI powered natural language search that lets users complete payment and other tasks by speaking or typing simple commands.

PhonePe AI Voice and Text Payment Feature

The new feature interprets commands such as “Pay Hemanth 20 ₹” or “Recharge FASTag” and instantly opens the relevant payment screen. It removes the need to navigate through multiple menus, allowing a direct path from intent to action.

Technology Behind the Feature

Built on Microsoft Foundry, the solution uses a hybrid model that runs part of the processing on device and part in the cloud. All personal and transactional data remain within the PhonePe environment, ensuring privacy and security while delivering fast response times.

Rollout Plan and User Access

The AI powered interface will be released in phases throughout India. Users can access it via the Global Search Bar, the Help Centre and the History tab inside the PhonePe app.

The launch coincides with the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, where industry leaders discuss the country’s AI strategy.

Conclusion

PhonePe’s AI powered voice and text feature simplifies payments by understanding user intent, leverages Microsoft Foundry technology and will be gradually made available to all users across India.
