Ekart has extended its delivery arrangement with IKEA to Chennai, adding another city to an existing partnership that began in Delhi-NCR in 2025, as per the news report.

The development places Ekart in charge of last-mile delivery for orders placed through IKEA’s digital platforms in the city.

Focus on Electric Delivery

Deliveries in Chennai will be carried out using an electric vehicle fleet. The shift shows a gradual change in urban logistics, where companies are adopting EVs for last-mile operations.

This is particularly relevant in dense cities, where large-format deliveries can add to congestion and operating costs.

Handling Large-Format Goods

The arrangement covers IKEA’s catalogue of over 600 products. These include furniture, home furnishings, and other items that often require additional handling due to size and weight.

Ekart will oversee movement from fulfilment points to customer locations, covering the entire delivery process.

Timelines and Tracking

The company plans to operate within a 48-hour delivery window in Chennai. It will use its routing systems to manage order flows and delivery schedules.

Customers will be able to track shipments from dispatch to delivery, which is relevant for high-value or bulky purchases.

Broader Logistics Operations

Ekart supports logistics for more than 1,800 brands across retail and direct-to-consumer segments. Its services include last-mile delivery, part-truckload transport, and warehousing.

The IKEA engagement adds to its work in handling goods that require coordinated storage and delivery systems.

Conclusion

The Chennai rollout builds on the earlier Delhi-NCR operations, extending the partnership to another urban market. The focus remains on managing large orders, defined delivery timelines and the use of electric vehicles in last-mile logistics.
