The benchmark stock indices ended their 5-day winning streak and closed in the red after the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee, led by Governor Shaktikanta Das, decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%.
The Sensex dropped by 56.74 points, or 0.07%, closing at 81,709.12, after trading between 81,925.91 and 81,506.19.Meanwhile, the Nifty50 rose by 30.60 points, or 0.12%, to finish at 24,677.80. During the day, Nifty50 reached a high of 24,751.05 and a low of 24,620.50.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories announced that Kazakhstan’s revenue authority imposed a penalty of Rs 28.7 lakh on its subsidiary, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Kazakhstan LLP. The penalty, amounting to KZT 17,597,212 (Rs 2.87 million), was for the disallowance of certain expense claims for 2021. However, the company stated that the penalty would not have a significant impact on its financials or operations.
