As per PTI reports, Torrent Gas on Friday announced a cut in retail prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in areas connected to the National Gas Grid.
CNG prices have been reduced by up to ₹3.50 per kg, while domestic PNG prices have been lowered by up to ₹2 per standard cubic metre (scm).
The revised prices apply across the company’s City Gas Distribution (CGD) network.
The price revision follows the implementation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s (PNGRB) Unified Tariff Order, effective January 1, 2026.
The new framework has simplified pipeline transportation charges by reducing the number of tariff zones from 3 to 2.
A uniform Zone-1 tariff of ₹54 per million British thermal units (mmBtu), excluding taxes, now applies to domestic PNG and CNG used in transport.
Torrent Gas said the revised pricing makes CNG up to 43% cheaper than petrol. The company indicated that the reduction would lower fuel expenses for households using PNG for cooking and for vehicle owners using CNG. The changes are linked to lower transportation costs following the regulatory revision.
Torrent Gas operates 526 CNG stations across its licensed areas. It has also provided piped natural gas connections to more than 2 lakh households.
The company’s CGD operations span 34 districts across several states, forming part of India’s expanding natural gas distribution network.
Other CGD companies have announced price cuts after the tariff change. Adani Total Gas reduced CNG and domestic PNG prices across multiple regions.
CNG prices in Gujarat and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra were cut by about ₹0.50-₹1.90 per kg, while reductions of ₹1.40-₹2.55 per kg were announced in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-NCR, northern Madhya Pradesh and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
In central and eastern India, CNG prices fell by up to ₹4.05 per kg. Domestic PNG prices were reduced by ₹1.10-₹4 per scm across these markets.
Companies such as GAIL, Indraprastha Gas and Think Gas have also announced revisions to CNG and PNG prices. The changes show an industry-wide pass-through of lower pipeline transportation charges following the PNGRB tariff reset.
