Paytm has introduced a new built-in calculator feature within its payment screen, allowing users to add multiple amounts before completing a transaction. The feature aims to simplify digital payments by enabling users to calculate the final payable amount directly within the app.
With this addition, users no longer need to switch to a separate calculator application while making payments, making the process faster and more convenient.
The new feature integrates seamlessly into the payment flow. When a user initiates a transaction by scanning a QR code, selecting a contact, or entering a UPI ID, the calculator becomes available on the amount entry screen. Users can tap the “+” icon to enter multiple values, which are automatically added to display the total amount.
As each value is entered, the total updates instantly and is shown both in numbers and words. This dual display format improves clarity and helps reduce the chances of mistakes while confirming the payment amount. After reviewing the final total, users can proceed with the payment by entering their UPI PIN to complete the transaction.
The built-in calculator is particularly useful for everyday retail payments where prices are often calculated verbally.
For example, customers purchasing multiple items at grocery stores, vegetable markets, pharmacies, or local retail shops can quickly add up the total before paying.
The feature is also helpful in situations such as splitting restaurant bills or calculating service charges. By allowing users to add multiple values within the payment interface itself, the tool eliminates the need to switch between different apps during a transaction.
According to Paytm, the calculator feature is designed to enhance user convenience and improve payment accuracy. By embedding practical tools directly within the payment process, the company aims to make digital transactions more seamless and efficient.
The addition reflects the broader trend among fintech platforms to integrate everyday utilities into payment apps, making them more versatile for daily financial activities.
