
NTPC Green Energy Limited has announced the commercial operation of an additional 270 MW capacity at the Khavda-II Solar PV Project located in Gujarat.
The capacity has been commissioned by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited. The new solar capacity became operational from 00:00 hours on March 11, 2026.
The project forms part of the larger 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV development, which is one of the significant renewable energy initiatives being executed by the company. The latest commissioning represents the third part capacity of the project and marks another step in expanding the company’s renewable energy portfolio.
The Khavda-II Solar PV Project is being developed in phases, with different capacities being brought online as they achieve readiness for commercial operations. The newly operational 270 MW segment contributes to the ongoing development of the total 1,200 MW project.
Solar projects of this scale play a key role in strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure and supporting the country’s transition toward cleaner energy sources. The Khavda region in Gujarat has emerged as a major hub for large-scale solar developments due to its favourable solar radiation and availability of land.
With the commissioning of this 270 MW capacity, the commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has increased significantly. Prior to this addition, the group’s commercial capacity stood at 9,292.68 MW.
Following the new capacity coming into operation, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has now reached 9,562.68 MW. This increase highlights the company’s continued focus on expanding renewable energy generation and strengthening its presence in the clean energy sector.
On March 11, 2026, NTPC Green Energy share price opened at ₹87.20. At 11:49 AM, the share price of NTPC Green Energy was trading at ₹87.77, up by 1.22% on the NSE.
