Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund has launched the Kotak Nifty Bank Index Fund, with the New Fund Offer (NFO) opening for subscription on 3 August 2026. The offer will remain open until 17 August 2026, after which the scheme will reopen for continuous purchase and redemption as an open-ended fund.

The scheme has been introduced under the Sectoral – Banking and Financial Services category and will track the NIFTY Bank Total Return Index (TRI).

Passive Investment Structure

The fund has been structured as a passive index scheme. It will invest in the equity and equity-related securities that form part of the NIFTY Bank Index, with the portfolio intended to broadly match the index composition.

Unlike actively managed equity funds, the scheme will not follow a stock-picking strategy. Its returns will depend on the movement of the underlying index, subject to tracking error arising from expenses and portfolio management.

Scheme Details

The minimum investment during the NFO has been set at ₹1,000. Investors can opt for either the Growth or IDCW plan.

The scheme does not carry a lock-in period, and no exit load will be charged on redemptions. According to the scheme details, the Riskometer classifies the fund as 'Very High' risk, reflecting its exposure to listed banking stocks.

Fund Management

The scheme will be managed by Jeetu Valechha Sonar, Abhishek Bisen and Satish Dondapati for Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Ltd.

Its performance will be measured against the NIFTY Bank TRI, which represents the performance of major banking companies listed on the stock exchange while accounting for dividend payouts through the total return methodology.
