
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced a significant achievement with its Minerals & Metals business vertical securing a mega order from JSW Steel.
This order is the largest ever for L&T in the domestic metals sector.
On May 6, 2026, L&T's Minerals & Metals division received a substantial order from JSW Steel. The order involves comprehensive engineering, procurement, and installation of critical process facilities, including blast furnaces and steel melt shops.
These facilities are part of JSW Steel's expansion plans to increase its crude steel processing capacity from 35 MTPA to over 50 MTPA by 2031.
The projects will be executed at JSW sites in Ballari, Karnataka, and Paradip, Odisha.
L&T and JSW Steel have a partnership spanning over 30 years, marked by collaboration on complex metallurgical projects.
This enduring relationship has significantly contributed to enhancing India's steel production capabilities.
The latest order further cements this partnership, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation and nation-building.
D K Sen, Advisor to CMD, Development Projects & Minerals & Metals at L&T, stated that securing this order is a defining moment for the company. It underscores L&T's engineering and execution capabilities and the trust placed in it to deliver assets of national significance.
T Kumaresan, Senior Vice President & Head of Minerals & Metals at L&T, highlighted the company's focus on integrating technology and optimising project timelines to deliver with precision.
Orders are classified by value: ₹1,000–2,500 Cr as Significant, ₹2,500–5,000 Cr as Large, ₹5,000–10,000 Cr as Major, ₹10,000–15,000 Cr as Mega, and above ₹15,000 Cr as Ultra-Mega.
