The Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) business vertical of Larsen & Toubro has secured a significant design-build-operate order from the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board in Assam.
The project focuses on developing a comprehensive water management system aimed at delivering safe and continuous water supply to households in South-East Guwahati. The initiative is designed to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the city’s water infrastructure.
Under the contract, L&T will undertake the design, supply, installation, construction, testing, and commissioning of several key components of the water system.
The project includes the development of a barge-mounted intake system, raw water rising main, a modern water treatment plant, reservoirs, booster pumping stations, and an extensive distribution network with household service connections. These components will work together to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to residents.
A key feature of the project is the implementation of a fully integrated SCADA system that will enable real-time monitoring and performance management of the water supply network.
This advanced system will help improve operational efficiency and allow authorities to respond quickly to potential issues. Additionally, L&T will be responsible for operating and maintaining the system for five years after completion.
This order further strengthens L&T’s presence in the northeastern region of India. By executing large-scale infrastructure projects like this, the company continues to expand its footprint while supporting regional development through reliable water infrastructure.
On March 25, 2026, L&T share price opened at ₹3,568.00. At 10:19 AM, the share price of L&T was trading at ₹3,621.90, up by 3.03% on the BSE.
