IndiGo has revised fuel charges on domestic and international flights amid higher aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, according to news reports. The new rates apply to bookings made from 00:01 hours on October 6, 2026.

The move marks IndiGo’s second fuel charge revision since April 2026. The airline introduced the fuel charge in March 2026, followed by a distance-based domestic structure in April 2026.

ATF Prices Rise

Domestic ATF prices increased by ₹16 per litre from October 1, 2026, taking the price to ₹137 per litre from ₹121. The 13.2% increase marked the third monthly rise, following increases in August and September.

IndiGo said the latest month-on-month rise in ATF prices exceeded 14%, with fuel costs reaching levels among the highest in the past decade. ATF can account for around 40% of an airline’s operating costs.

Domestic Charges Up By ₹100-350

The revised domestic fuel charges range from ₹375 to ₹1,300, depending on route distance. The charge for flights up to 500 km has increased to ₹375 from ₹275 in April 2026.

For 501–1,000 km, the charge is now ₹600, compared with ₹400 earlier. The 1,001–1,500 km slab has moved to ₹900 from ₹600.

Routes covering 1,501–2,000 km now carry a ₹1,150 charge, against ₹800 previously. For distances above 2,000 km, the charge has risen to ₹1,300 from ₹950.

International Charges Revised

International fuel charges have also been changed. SAARC routes up to 500 km carry ₹1,000, while routes beyond 500 km have a ₹3,000 charge.

The charge for Southeast Asia, GCC and West Asia, and North and East Asia stands at ₹5,500. Africa has a ₹6,000 charge, while Europe has the highest rate at ₹10,000.

IndiGo Reports Q1 Loss

IndiGo’s consolidated revenue from operations rose 19.9% year-on-year to ₹24,584.10 crore in Q1 FY27. The airline reported a consolidated net loss of ₹237.60 crore, against a profit of ₹2,176.30 crore in Q1 FY26.

IndiGo said a larger increase would have been required to fully offset the rise in fuel costs. The revised charges take effect for new bookings from October 6.

Interglobe Aviation (IndiGo) Share Price Performance

As of October 5, 2026, 2:35 pm, InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) share price was trading at ₹4,943.10, a 0.27% increase from the previous closing price.

Conclusion

The revised charges come as ATF prices rise for the third consecutive month, with higher fuel costs reflected in IndiGo’s domestic and international fares.
