ICICI Prudential Life Share Price in Focus; Tax Demand Upheld by Commissioner Appeals

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company has received an order from the Commissioner (Appeals), Thane regarding the GST demand raised against the company.The order dated August 21, 2026, has also dismissed the appeal filed by the company. 

Going further back, in June 2024, the company received an order which they appealed, and now, with this order, their appeal has been dismissed. 

GST Demand of ₹182.36 Crore 

The GST amount involved in the case is ₹182.36 crore. 

There is also a penalty of the same amount, taking the total amount mentioned in the order to around ₹364.73 crore. Interest has not been quantified yet.  

What Is the Tax Dispute About? 

The case relates to money recovered from insurance agents under commercial terms. 

According to the tax authority, this amount was liable to GST and should have been deposited with the government. The matter covers the period from FY2018 to FY2023.  

Company Plans to Appeal Further 

ICICI Prudential Life has said that it will file another appeal against the latest order before the appropriate appellate authority. 

The company has also stated that it does not expect the matter to have a material impact on its financial operations.

As of August 22, 2026, ICICI Prudential Life share price closed at ₹516.05 per share, reflecting a surge of 2.80% from the previous trading session.
