Biocon Share Price in Focus; Announces Pegfilgrastim Biosimilar Approval by Japan MHLW

Biocon has received approval from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) to market its pegfilgrastim biosimilar, which will be sold in Japan by Sandoz.

Biocon Biologics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Biocon, has received marketing approval for its pegfilgrastim biosimilar from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), as per the exchange filing.  

The product is a biosimilar of Neulasta, a medicine made by Amgen. Biocon Biologics has developed and manufactured the product.  

Product to Be Sold in Japan 

Biocon will not directly handle all the sales of the product in Japan. Sandoz K.K. will have the exclusive rights to promote, sell and distribute the product in Japan. Global Regulatory Partners Japan will act as the Marketing Authorization Holder for Biocon.  

Approval Adds to Biocon's Japan Business 

The approval gives Biocon another biosimilar product that can be sold in Japan. 

The company said the approval will add to its existing biosimilar portfolio in the country and help increase access to more affordable medicines.

Biocon Share Price Performance 

As of August 25, 2026, at 12:36 PM, Biocon share price was trading at ₹413.75 per share, reflecting a surge of 1.06% from the previous trading session.

Biocon Biologics has received approval to market its pegfilgrastim biosimilar in Japan. Sandoz K.K. will sell and distribute the product in the country. The approval also adds another product to Biocon's biosimilar portfolio in Japan.
