Balkrishna Industries Share Price Surges Over 3%; Pirelli Partnership Targets 800,000 Premium Car Tyres

Balkrishna Industries (BKT) has partnered with Italian tyre maker Pirelli to manufacture premium passenger car tyres in India, marking a step into a new segment for BKT, as per the exchange filing.
Under the agreement announced on October 22, BKT will produce up to 800,000 Pirelli-branded tyres by 2030 at a newly constructed plant equipped to meet Pirelli’s technology and quality standards.
Joint Venture Also on the Cards
The partnership could move beyond manufacturing under the initial arrangement. The two companies are considering a 50:50 joint venture to build a dedicated plant for high-value car tyres carrying both Pirelli and BKT brands.
The proposed venture would serve customers in India as well as international markets, subject to the required conditions being met.
Entry into the Passenger Car Segment
For BKT, the agreement opens a route into passenger car tyres, expanding beyond its established off-highway business. The company expects the partnership to create opportunities in domestic and overseas markets.
Pirelli, which currently has a commercial presence in India, sees the arrangement as a way to strengthen its position in a market where demand for premium tyres is expected to rise.
The companies cited estimates that Indian car registrations could grow by 5–7% annually between 2025 and 2030, while the premium car tyre market could expand nearly fivefold.
