Birlasoft CEO Roopinder Singh Resigns Due to Personal Reasons

Birlasoft Ltd announced the resignation of Roopinder Singh, its Chief Executive Officer for the Americas, on January 7, 2025. Singh, a senior management personnel overseeing operations in the Americas, will step down from his role at the close of business hours on February 7, 2025. The company cited personal reasons for his decision, as outlined in its regulatory filing.
Q2 FY25 Financial Performance
In its financial results for Q2 FY25, Birlasoft reported a 3.1% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) revenue growth, amounting to ₹1,368.2 crore. On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the revenue showed a 4.5% increase. The growth was primarily driven by performance in verticals such as manufacturing, BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance), and energy and utilities.
EBITDA and Profit Metrics
The company recorded an EBITDA of ₹165 crore in the September 2024 quarter, translating to an EBITDA margin of 12.1%. The profit after tax (PAT) for the same period stood at ₹127.5 crore, with basic earnings per share (EPS) of ₹4.59.
Sector Contributions
The manufacturing sector contributed significantly to the company’s revenue, accounting for 41.2% in Q2 FY25, an increase from 39.2% in Q1 FY25 and 40% in Q2 FY24. The life sciences and services segment contributed 24% to the total revenue, marking growth from 21.4% in the previous quarter and 20.6% YoY. Meanwhile, the BFSI sector experienced a decline, contributing 21.1% to revenue compared to 23.6% in Q1 FY25 and 23.3% YoY.

On January 8, as of 12:08 PM, 2025, shares of Birlasoft Ltd were trading at ₹533.80, down by ₹13.70 or 2.50%. Over the past six months, the stock has declined by 24.61%, and it is down by 4.85% year-to-date. Roopinder Singh’s resignation and the company’s financial results underline a period of transitions for Birlasoft as it navigates leadership changes and sectoral dynamics.
