As per news reports, Zepto, one of India’s fastest-growing quick commerce platforms, has launched a new initiative to support its delivery workforce in filing income tax returns. Partnering with ClearTax, the programme has enabled thousands of gig workers to claim refunds that were previously missed due to limited awareness and financial literacy.
According to Zepto, around 49% of its delivery partners filed ITRs this year through ClearTax’s digital system, with many being first-time filers. The service, powered by artificial intelligence, uses a multilingual WhatsApp interface that is available 24/7.
It assists users by pre-filling data, calculating taxes, and guiding them through deductions and exemptions before submitting returns electronically with instant confirmation.
The initiative has already resulted in refunds worth more than ₹1.5 crore. Delivery executives can also access assistance through on-ground helpdesks at Zepto dark stores, dedicated webinars, and telephonic support from ClearTax experts.
As per the news reports, Archit Gupta, Founder and CEO of ClearTax, said, “Thousands of gig workers across India are missing out on tax refunds due to limited financial literacy. ClearTax's partnership with Zepto aims to bridge this gap, allowing delivery executives to easily file their ITR through a simple WhatsApp message in their preferred language.”
The collaboration is part of Zepto’s broader commitment to improving the financial well-being of its workforce, while ClearTax continues to expand its reach in the gig economy by making tax compliance easier and more accessible.
