Mobility startup Namma Yatri has launched a new multimodal transit feature, ‘Namma Transit’, aimed at improving everyday commuting in Bengaluru, a city grappling with rising travel times, as per news reports. The feature integrates Metro, auto, and cab services into a single, real-time navigation platform. It was announced alongside the release of a strategic report titled ‘Made for BLR: Namma Mobility Blueprint 2030’, which outlines a vision for faster, greener, and smarter urban mobility.
Namma Transit aims to make travel smarter, faster, and commuter-friendly, as average commute time in Bengaluru has risen 16% over the past year ,now 63 minutes for a 19 km journey. The feature will guide users on which metro station to head to, which platform and gate to use, and when to switch transport modes, all in real time.
As per Economic Times, initially, the service is being rolled out to select users, with full availability expected within a week. Namma Yatri, backed by JustPay, Blume Ventures, and Google, is also collaborating with the Indian Institute of Science’s Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG) to integrate BMTC live data into the platform.
As per news reports, Co-founders Magizhan Selvan and Shan MS said, "Mobility should feel like magic, not a daily grind. With Namma Transit, we’ve designed every element, from booking to alerts, to make public transport the first choice. This is our contribution to a Bengaluru that moves with speed, efficiency, and trust."
To promote adoption, discounts and incentives will be offered during the initial rollout. Shan said, "The idea is to make public transport more accessible and attractive, helping people experience its convenience while enjoying extra value."
The launch coincided with the release of ‘Made for BLR: Namma Mobility Blueprint 2030’, a report envisioning a city with 50% lower emissions, a reduction in traffic time from 117 to 57 hours, and public transport usage rising from 48% to 70%. Inspired by global cities like Amsterdam, Singapore and Tokyo, the report advocates for shared rides, pooling, and batching to overhaul Bengaluru’s mobility model.
