Meesho will create around 12 lakh seasonal jobs across sellers and logistics ahead of the festive season, as per news reports. The number is about 40% higher than last year. Over 70% of the positions are expected to come from tier-3 and tier-4 cities.
Sellers on the platform have hired close to 5.5 lakh seasonal workers this year. These workers are receiving short training sessions for activities such as sorting, manufacturing, and packaging. Sellers are also preparing by adding new products, expanding into more categories, curating festive collections, and completing inventory checks to handle festive demand.
The logistics segment accounts for a major share of the hiring. Meesho, along with third-party logistics providers and its in-house unit Valmo, has created around 6.7 lakh seasonal jobs in this space. This reflects a 90% increase compared with last year.
Reportedly, the roles are spread across first-mile, middle-mile, and delivery operations, involving tasks such as picking, loading, unloading, sorting, and managing returns.
As per news reports, Sourabh Pandey, CXO, Fulfilment and Experience, Meesho, stated, “In anticipation of this peak period, we have created over 12 lakh seasonal opportunities, with a significant share emerging from India’s tier-3 cities. By empowering Indian businesses, manufacturers and logistics partners, our focus remains clear: to make e-commerce inclusive and accessible for every stakeholder.”

Amazon India has added more than 1.5 lakh jobs in its operations network. Amazon has also invested ₹2,000 crore in its infrastructure this year and launched 5 new fulfilment centres in Delhi NCR, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, and Rajpura.
Meesho’s festive hiring of 12 lakh seasonal jobs highlights the rising scale of e-commerce workforce requirements, with the majority of opportunities concentrated in smaller cities.
