At 10:20 am, the BSE Sensex surged 0.16%, reaching a level of 80,030. The Nifty 50 index is up 0.25% to the 24,377 level. On the Sensex, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Infosys Ltd and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers, whereas Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd and Asian Paints Ltd were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

Shipping Corporation of India Ltd

Recording a significant 6-fold surge in trading volume, the shares plunged by 16.5% today. Shipping Corporation of India Land & Assets (SCILAL) is selling the government’s controlling stake in Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) to a private company. To streamline the sale and maximize value, SCILAL separated SCI’s non-core assets into a new company, allowing them to be sold separately and strategically.

Bengal & Assam Company Ltd

Witnessing a substantial 6-fold surge in trading volume, the shares were up 2.54%, reaching an intraday low of Rs 9,048 on the BSE. In 2018, Bengal & Assam Company Limited is a Core Investment Company registered with the RBI. Its objective is to hold investments in its subsidiaries, other group companies, money market mutual funds etc., as prescribed by the RBI.

Shreyas Shipping & Logistics Ltd

Experiencing a remarkable surge in trading volume of 5 times, the shares surged over 8% to Rs 439 per share on the BSE from its previous closing of Rs 7,357. Shreyas Shipping & Logistics, founded in 1988, is an Indian company that owns and charters container feeder vessels for cargo movement between domestic and international ports. Previously involved in coastal shipping, they sold that division in 2021 and now focus on chartering out their fleet.

Trent Ltd

Experiencing an impressive 4-fold surge in trading volume, the shares gained 1% today and made a fresh new 52-week high of Rs 5,695.10. Trent Ltd, a retailer in India, operates nearly 400 stores across several formats. Their flagship brand, Westside (with 174 stores), focuses on trendy clothing, footwear and homeware under its various brands. Westside generates most of its revenue and offers a wide selection for men, women and children.
