Valiant Secures ONGC with Advanced Cyber Security Solutions

Valiant Communications Limited has received an order to provide its advanced cybersecurity solutions to the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), owned by the Indian government. ONGC, India’s largest crude oil and natural gas producer, is crucial to the country’s essential infrastructure. Therefore, it is necessary to protect ONGC’s digital assets from cyber threats, network intrusions, and ransomware attacks.
Cybersecurity Solutions
Valiant’s chosen cybersecurity products will comply with the Indian government’s cybersecurity guidelines. These products will help detect and respond to breaches that bypass the firewall or are caused by trojans, which can be introduced intentionally or accidentally. They will identify any illegal activities within the network that might create vulnerabilities, allowing cyber-attacks or ransomware attacks. Additionally, these products will establish strong isolation zones and secure areas within the IT and OT systems to protect against cyber-attacks or hostile network intrusions.
The proposed solution offers seamless scalability and works with any infrastructure without affecting existing firewalls, networks, or applications. It is essential for any organisation as it provides early warning and response systems to detect cybersecurity incidents behind firewalls. This helps mitigate cyber threats using early attack warnings, intrusion detection algorithms, and audio-visual alerts. It also detects cyber-attacks on SCADA and ICS systems, enhancing an organisation’s overall cybersecurity.
Limitations of Firewall-Based Separation
Relying only on firewalls to create a separation between IT and OT systems is not enough. Insiders and outsiders can bypass this protection by planting or activating a trojan inside the network, and simply using firewalls as the primary defence strategy is ineffective. Proper cybersecurity requires creating strong isolation zones and secure perimeters within IT and OT systems that can automatically activate when cyber-attacks or intrusions are detected.
Commenting on the award for the project, Mr Inder Mohan Sood, CEO, said, “We are delighted with the opportunity to deploy our advanced Cyber Security Suite in the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation network. While various initiatives taken by the Government of India, under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, such as “Aatamnirbhar Bharat”, “Make in India”, “Digital India”, and “PMA Policy”, the initiatives taken by the Government of India are helping domestic manufacturers of cyber security equipment in India and securing Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) in India. This support is further helping us to take these unique and advanced cyber security solutions to the world”.
