Share Market Pre Open Updates – May 16, 2024

On May 15, 2024, the Nifty 50 fell 0.03% and closed at 22,210, and the Sensex dropped  0.16%, closing at 72,987. 

Top Gainers and Losers

On the sectoral front, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Realty, Nifty Oil and Gas, and Nifty Consumer durables ended in the green. Meanwhile, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Media, Nifty Auto, and Nifty Private Bank were declining. The top gainers were  LIC, Siemens, Canara Bank, and Coal India, which showed positive movement. On the other hand, Colgate Palmolive, Bosch Ltd, ICICI Prudential, and Tata Motors were the top losers of the day.

Thermax and LIC were in the news on May 15, 2024.

• The share price of Thermax rose 14% after the announcement of the March 2024 quarter results. 
• The market regulator SEBI has given an extension of 3 years to LIC to comply with minimum public shareholding norms. As a result, LIC shares zoomed 6%.
