JSW Energy Secures Major Solar Power and Energy Storage Projects

JSW Energy, a leading Indian power company, announced 2 significant developments on July 22, 2024, that solidify their commitment to renewable energy and position them for substantial growth.
300 MW Solar Project in Karnataka:
JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) for setting up a 300 MW solar power project at Pavagada Solar Park, Karnataka.
This award increases JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity to 15.5 GW, comprising:
- 7.5 GW operational capacity
- 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro plants
- 5.7 GW renewable energy pipeline with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed for 2.0 GW
500 MW Solar Project with Energy Storage
JSW Neo Energy also received a LoA from Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) to set up a 500 MW ISTS-connected solar power project and a 250 MW/500 MWh energy storage system.
- This project adds to their existing 3.7 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects.
- With this additional award, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity reaches 16.0 GW and energy storage capacity climbs to 4.2 GWh.
Looking Ahead
JSW Energy’s ambitious goals include:
- Reaching an installed generation capacity of 10 GW by FY25, up from the current 7.5 GW.
- Achieving a total generation capacity of 20 GW and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030.
- Attaining carbon neutrality by 2050.
