On December 21, 2024, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar.

The MoU was exchanged between Shri Alok Ranjan Ghosh, Director (Industries), Government of Bihar, and Shri Bimal Gopalachari, Additional GM (Business Development), NGEL, in the presence of the Hon’ble Industries Minister, Shri Nitish Mishra; Smt. Bandana Preyashi, Secretary (Industries), Government of Bihar; Shri Sudip Nag, Regional ED (East-I), NTPC; and other senior officials from the Government of Bihar, NTPC, NGEL, and other distinguished delegates.

This MoU sets the stage for significant investments in Bihar, aimed at establishing renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted and floating solar installations, battery energy storage systems, and green hydrogen mobility initiatives. The Government of Bihar will support these projects by facilitating necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, and clearances from relevant departments, agencies, and authorities.

NTPC Green Energy Latest Developments

  • The Gujarat Energy Development Agency has declared the commercial operation of the second part (30 MW) of the 150 MW Gujarat Solar PV Project at Mesanka, Gujarat, developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited.
  • NTPC REL has also emerged as a successful bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the development of 2,000 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Projects. NTPC REL secured 500 MW of solar power capacity at a tariff of ₹3.52 per kWh. As per the terms of the tender, the company will set up an Energy Storage System (ESS) of 250 MW/1000 MWh in conjunction with the contracted solar capacity.

On December 23, 2024, NTPC Green Energy shares opened at ₹136.20 and touched the day-high of ₹137.10 at 11:15 AM.
