On August 17, 2026, the BSE Sensex witnessed a high volatile move. Amidst volatility in the market stock specific action continued with Tata Steel, Axis Bank, and Eternal emerging as the top gainers. On the other hand, Infosys, HCL Tech, and TCS were the top losers as of 3:10 PM. 

Top Gainers on BSE Sensex 

Tata Steel led the gains with stock trading at ₹186.1, gaining ₹2.7 or 1.47%. The stock registered trading volume of 7,71,887 shares, with a turnover of ₹1,421 lakh. During the day, the stock opened at ₹183.9, marked an intraday high of ₹186.35, and an intraday low of ₹182.05, with a previous close at ₹183.4. 

Axis Bank share price gained ₹14.1 or 1.16% trading at ₹1,231.50. Total traded volume stood at 1,22,572 shares, and the turnover stood at ₹1,502 lakh. The stock opened at ₹1,217.70, peaked at ₹1,235.00, and touched a low of ₹1,213.50, with a previous close at ₹1,217.40. 

Eternal rose by ₹2.6 or 0.82% with a Last Traded Price (LTP) of ₹320.6. On BSE, the total trade volume stood at 4,41,713 shares, with a turnover of ₹1,409 lakh. It opened the day at ₹318.45, reached a high of ₹321.8, and a low of ₹316.4, with a previous close at ₹318. 

Top Losers on BSE Sensex 

TCS emerged as a top loser with an LTP of ₹2,316.00, declining by ₹43 or 1.82%. On BSE, the trading volume stood at 1,02,180 shares, with a turnover of ₹2,373 lakh. On Monday, the stock opened at ₹2,346.00, registered intraday high of ₹2,362.45, and a low of ₹2,310.60, with a previous close at ₹2,359.00. 

HCL Tech followed with its share price down by ₹31.9 or 2.35% at ₹1,328.10. It had a trading volume of 1,27,400 shares and a turnover of ₹1,705 lakh. The stock opened at ₹1,355.95, reached a high of ₹1,361.00, and a low of ₹1,327.65, with a previous close at ₹1,360.00. 

Infosys declined by ₹30.25 or 2.59% trading at ₹1,138.80. On BSE, total trading volume stood at 1,66,249 shares, with a turnover of ₹1,906 lakh. The stock opened and peaked at ₹1,165.00, with a low of ₹1,138.00, with a previous close at ₹1,169.05.

Conclusion 

On August 17, 2026, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, and Eternal emerged as the top gainers on the BSE Sensex, with gains of 1.47%, 1.16%, and 0.82% respectively. On the other hand, TCS, HCL Tech, and Infosys declined by 1.82%, 2.35%, and 2.59% respectively.
