Tata Electronics has partnered with Malaysia-based IAQ Group for the cleanroom facilities at its semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, as per The Economic Times report.
The Malaysian company is to design and install the cleanroom as part of the 300 mm (12-inch) wafer fabrication project. The semiconductor plant is being developed with an investment of around $11 billion.
The IAQ agreement is the latest addition to Tata Electronics' list of international partnerships for the Dholera project.
The company has already entered into collaborations with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), ASML and Intel as it builds its semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Construction work at the Gujarat site is currently underway.
Semiconductor fabrication takes place in cleanrooms where airborne particles, temperature, and humidity are tightly controlled. Such facilities are necessary to prevent contamination during chip manufacturing.
The cleanroom is one of the largest and most technically demanding sections of a fabrication plant and is installed before manufacturing equipment is brought into the facility.
IAQ Group was established in 1994 and provides engineering and cleanroom solutions for high-technology industries. The company has worked on semiconductor projects involving firms such as Texas Instruments and Infineon.
The Dholera plant is to produce chips for sectors including automotive, consumer electronics, artificial intelligence and industrial applications, while serving domestic and overseas customers.
