The BSE Sensex opened the September 7, 2026, session with a negative bias and registered an intraday high of 76,477.19 soon after opening. The index later touched an intraday low of 76,027.25. 

BSE Sensex Performance on September 7, 2026 

The BSE Sensex opened below its previous close at the 76,446.05 level and registered an intraday high of 76,477.19.  

As the session progressed, continuous selling pressure emerged, dragging the index down by over 400 points from its previous close to touch an intraday low of 76,027.25.  

At 12:33 PM, the index was trading at 76,058.75, down by 456.68 points or 0.60% on September 7, 2026. 

Advance Decline Ratio of BSE Sensex 

The market breadth of BSE Sensex remained weak during the afternoon session on September 7, 2026, as buying interest was highly selective, leaving only 6 constituents in the green, while key heavyweights across the IT and banking sectors faced notable selling pressure and remaining 24 stocks traded in the red. 

Top Gainers and Losers of BSE Sensex on September 7, 2026 

The market index recorded mixed movements across its major constituents during the session. Among the gainers, Maruti (MARUTI) led the positive traction with a Last Traded Price (LTP) of 12,790.00, gaining 90.00 points (+0.71%).  

It was followed by Power Grid Corporation (POWERGRID), which rose by 1.50 points (+0.56%) to an LTP of 267.50. ICICI Bank (ICICIBANK) maintained a slight positive bias, trading at an LTP of 1,429.80 with a value increase of 6.80 points (+0.48%), while Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) rounded out the top gainers at an LTP of 3,176.00, ticking up by 7.10 points (+0.22%). 

Conversely, severe selling pressure was observed among the top losers. Infosys (INFY) dropped the sharpest in percentage terms, falling by 39.00 points (-3.45%) to an LTP of 1,091.00.  

Tech Mahindra (TECHM) also faced notable corrections, shedding 37.30 points (-2.34%) to reach an LTP of 1,554.70. Steel major Tata Steel (TATASTEEL) lost value, decreasing by 4.00 points (-2.12%) to trade at an LTP of 185.00, while HCL Technologies (HCLTECH) slid by 25.80 points (-1.99%) to cross an LTP of 1,268.20.

Conclusion 

On Monday, September 7, 2026, the BSE Sensex traded with notable losses of 0.60% by afternoon. Despite minor holding attempts above its low of 76,027.25, the market sentiment remained weak, heavily weighted down by top IT constituents like Infosys and Tech Mahindra.
