Sensex Opens in Green on August 25; TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech & More Surge
Indian benchmark index BSE Sensex was trading in the green on Monday, August 25, 2025. At 10:23 AM, the Sensex was up 171.70 points or 0.21%, at 81,478.55, after opening at 81,501.06 and touching an intraday high of 81,639.11 and a low of 81,364.86.
BSE Sensex 30 Stocks
Among the top gainers were TCS (+2.54%), Infosys (+2.40%), and HCL Tech (+1.88%). Tech Mahindra (+1.76%), Tata Motors (+0.82%), and Tata Steel (+0.66%) also posted notable gains.
On the downside, ICICI Bank(-0.76%), Bharti Airtel (-0.78%), and Bajaj Finserv (-0.43%) were among the laggards. Reliance (-0.05%), ITC (-0.24%), and Hindustan Unilever (-0.26%) also traded in the red.
Market sentiment remained positive, with strong buying in IT, auto, and financial stocks driving gains. Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, a majority traded in the green, cushioning the impact of mild selling in select banking and FMCG heavyweights.
Sectoral Performance
BSE Bankex was trading in the red, down by 0.11% and BSE Sensex 50 increased by 0.25%.

Conclusion
The Sensex maintained upward momentum in early trade, led by IT majors and auto counters. While a few heavyweights like ICICI Bank and Airtel capped broader gains, overall market breadth stayed firm, indicating continued investor confidence in large-cap stocks.
