NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has commenced commercial operations for a 12.5 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Bhuj, Gujarat. This forms part of a larger 37.5 MW solar project being developed in the region. The commercial operation date has been recorded as October 17, 2025.
As per the news reports, the Bhuj solar project falls under Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd. Ayana, in turn, is fully owned by ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, a joint venture company between ONGC and NTPC Green Energy Limited. The 12.5 MW capacity is the first portion of the total 37.5 MW project to be brought into commercial use.
Before this development, NTPC Green Energy’s total operational capacity stood at 7,407.475 MW. With this addition, the group’s total commercial capacity now reaches 7,419.975 MW. The new capacity has been integrated into the company’s overall renewable portfolio, which includes several ongoing projects across solar, wind, and hybrid segments.
The Bhuj project is part of NTPC Green Energy’s efforts to bring renewable power projects into operation in stages. Similar projects under development are expected to be commissioned in phases, depending on construction progress and grid readiness.
NTPC Green Energy Limited manages NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio. It operates both independently and through joint ventures to develop and run solar, wind, and hybrid power projects across multiple states. The company was formed to consolidate and scale NTPC’s clean energy operations under a dedicated structure.

As of October 16, 2025, 10:40 AM, NTPC Green Energy share price was trading at ₹99.61, a 0.010% increase from the previous closing price.
With the commercial start of the 12.5 MW solar capacity in Bhuj, NTPC Green Energy Limited’s total operational renewable capacity now stands at 7,419.975 MW. The remaining portion of the Bhuj project will become operational in subsequent phases.
