ASML, the Dutch semiconductor equipment giant and the world’s sole supplier of extreme ultraviolet lithography systems, is planning to establish a customer support office in GIFT City, Gujarat.

As per news reports, ASML executives visited the hub recently and conveyed their intent to create a local presence as India accelerates its semiconductor manufacturing ambitions. The initiative comes as Tata Electronics advances work on India's first major semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera.

ASML’s Push Into India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

ASML has indicated that it intends to begin with a customer support office and could expand into a full-fledged facility in Dholera as the fab project progresses. The company acknowledged its plans in a statement, saying it is in the process of establishing a customer support office in India and that its priority is to serve customers in the region.

As per ET reports, the move closely aligns with recent discussions between ASML and Tata Electronics, regarding onboarding the Dutch firm as a vendor. While neither party has confirmed a finalised deal, industry executives say ASML’s interest signals deeper engagement with India’s semiconductor supply chain.

Link To Tata Electronics’ ₹91,000 Crore Dholera Fab

As per news reports, Tata Electronics is building India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, in partnership with Taiwan’s PSMC, with an investment commitment of ₹91,000 crore. The plant is scheduled to begin chip production by December 2026 and is expected to create more than 20,000 skilled jobs.

It is expected that the fab is unlikely to require ASML’s cutting-edge EUV machines, which are used for manufacturing the most advanced chips. Instead, it will rely on ASML’s deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography tools, which are essential for mature-node semiconductor production and remain critical for applications spanning automotive, communications and industrial electronics.

Conclusion

ASML’s planned customer support office in GIFT City marks a significant milestone in India’s semiconductor journey, signalling early alignment between global equipment suppliers and the country’s upcoming fabrication ecosystem. As the Tata Electronics–PSMC fab advances toward its 2026 production timeline, the establishment of local support infrastructure is expected to accelerate India’s integration into global chip manufacturing networks.
