Closing Bell: Sensex and Nifty50 Climb Over 1% on Positive Asian Trends

On October 28, 2024, the benchmark equity indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, rose over 1% during the day before finishing the first trading session of the week on a positive note, following trends in Asia.
The BSE Sensex increased by 602.75 points, or 0.76%, closing at 80,005.04. Likewise, the NSE Nifty 50 went up by 158.35 points, or 0.65%, to end at 24,380.80.
Sectoral Performance
All sectoral indices finished higher, with the PSU Bank index increasing by 3%, and the Metal index rising by 2%. The pharma, media, and real estate sectors each gained more than 1%. The BSE midcap index went up by 0.7%, while the smallcap index climbed by 1%.
Top Gainers and Losers
36 of the 50 stocks in the Nifty 50 index closed higher, with the biggest gains coming from Shriram Finance, Adani Enterprises, ICICI Bank, Wipro, and JSW Steel, which rose by as much as 5.35%. In contrast, 14 stocks, including Coal India, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Hero MotoCorp, and BEL, finished lower, with losses reaching up to 3.76%.
Oil Prices
As of October 28, 2024, at 052:24 PM, Brent Crude was trading at $71.39, down by 6.13%.
