Canadian Athleisure Giant Lululemon to Enter India With Tata CLiQ Partnership

Lululemon, the Canadian athletic wear brand, will launch in India through a franchise agreement with Tata CLiQ, as per news reports. The rollout is scheduled for the second half of 2026. The partnership includes a physical retail store and online storefronts on Tata CLiQ Luxury and Tata CLiQ Fashion. Tata CLiQ is under the Tata Group.
The company will offer its global portfolio in India, including apparel, footwear, and accessories. These products cater to various activities such as yoga, running, training, tennis, and golf. Both performance and casual wear will be available through the partnership.
Technology Hub Already Operational
Lululemon has had a presence in India through a technology centre in Bengaluru. The facility supports global operations in data analytics, inventory planning, and machine learning. This is the company’s first tech hub outside North America.
Apart from retail, Lululemon plans to conduct local wellness and community programs. These will focus on themes such as movement and mindfulness. The brand has adopted similar initiatives in other markets as part of its outreach approach.
Expansion Context
As per news reports, this launch is part of Lululemon’s international growth strategy. The company’s “Power of Three x2” framework includes market expansion, product development, and digital scaling. India will join more than 30 countries where the brand has a presence.
Growing Interest in Premium Activewear
India’s demand for premium activewear is increasing, driven by lifestyle changes and growing interest in fitness. Several international brands have recently expanded into the space. The Lululemon-Tata CLiQ deal adds to that list.
The first physical store’s location has not been announced yet. The brand will also be accessible online through Tata CLiQ’s platforms. Both retail formats are expected to go live in late 2026.
