BEML Signs MoU with Bharat Forge, Data Patterns for AMCA Programme

BEML Ltd announced on September 26, 2025, that it has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Forge Ltd and Data Patterns (India) Ltd. The three firms will work together on the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.
AMCA Project
The AMCA is being developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) as a fifth-generation fighter aircraft. It is planned with stealth design, super-cruise capability, internal weapons bays, electronic warfare systems, and advanced avionics. The project is fully designed in India.
Scope of Collaboration
The MoU allows the companies to jointly take part in ADA’s Expression of Interest (EoI) process. The partnership brings together BEML’s manufacturing and integration experience, Bharat Forge’s engineering and metal forming capabilities, and Data Patterns’ expertise in avionics and defence electronics.
Industry and Policy Context
The agreement represents cooperation between a defence public sector undertaking and private industry. It also ties in with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat plan, which seeks to strengthen local manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports in the defence sector.
Project Importance
The AMCA is regarded as a major defence initiative. It aims to develop an indigenous fighter aircraft platform with next-generation features. The involvement of these three companies adds industrial and technological support to the programme.
