Adani Group has issued a statement clarifying its position regarding reports of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeking to serve legal summons on key executives. The companies confirmed through stock exchange filings that there are no charges or complaints against the conglomerate itself.
On January 24, 2026, Adani Group entities, including Adani Enterprises, Adani Power, Adani Ports and Adani Green Energy, disclosed that no proceedings or legal allegations have been made against the companies by the US SEC.
The clarification was made in response to media reports referencing US court filings aimed at serving summons to Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani via alternate methods after diplomatic routes failed.
The companies referred to an earlier November 21, 2024, clarification stating that the legal proceedings in the United States were directed towards individual executives and not the companies themselves. They reiterated that the reports do not trigger disclosure requirements under India's SEBI rules.
The US Department of Justice and the SEC reportedly filed an indictment and civil complaint in a New York federal court in November 2024. The case involves alleged misconduct related to power purchase agreements involving Adani Green Energy.
According to the complaint, some executives were accused of bribing Indian officials and providing misleading information to US investors.
However, Adani Group noted that these are proceedings targeting individuals and not involving the listed entities in any legal capacity.

The SEC reportedly requested court permission to serve summons via email, citing the Indian government’s refusal to process summons on procedural grounds under the Hague Convention. This development created concern in the market, which reflected in share prices of several Adani Group firms.
Adani Green Energy shares declined over 14%, Adani Enterprises dropped 10.7%, Adani Ports fell 7.5%, and Adani Power closed down 5.5% on January 23, 2026.
Adani Group clarified it faces no allegations or participation in the legal proceedings initiated by the US SEC. The legal developments are focused on individual executives, and the companies maintain that they are uninvolved in the case pending in the US court.
