International Gemmological Institute (India) Limited (IGI) has announced the acquisition of a 100% stake in IGI Netherlands B.V. and International Gemmological Institute BV. The acquisitions were made for USD 88,440,543 and USD 69,761,445, respectively, solidifying the company’s position in the global gemological certification and education market.

IGI Netherlands B.V. Acquisition Details

The primary business of IGI Netherlands B.V., through its subsidiaries, focuses on the certification and accreditation of natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds, studded jewelry, and colored stones. The company also offers educational programs in gemology.

The acquisition, aimed at expanding IGI India’s core business in a significant market, was completed on December 20, 2024. The total consideration for the acquisition was paid on December 23, 2024. The company’s financial performance has been impressive, with turnover figures for the last three fiscal years as follows:

  • FY 2021: ₹872.98 million
  • FY 2022: ₹1091.70 million
  • FY 2023: ₹1164.61 million

International Gemmological Institute BV Acquisition Details

International Gemmological Institute BV specialises in diamond screening and detection services, quality assessments, diamond sorting, laser scribing of diamonds, and gemology courses. The acquisition will further enhance IGI India’s capabilities in diamond certification and related services.

For the period from January 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024, the turnover of International Gemmological Institute BV stood at ₹1041.46 million.

Strategic Significance

The acquisitions reflect IGI India’s commitment to expanding its global presence and strengthening its offerings in gemological services.

On December 26, 2024, International Gemmological Institute share price opened at ₹544.00, up from its previous close of ₹527.50. At 9:57 AM, the share price of IGI was trading at ₹578.70, up by 9.71% on the NSE.
