Speculation around a possible increase in financial support under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has drawn attention following discussions in Parliament.
Farmers have sought clarity on whether the annual assistance would be doubled from ₹6,000 to ₹12,000.
The government has now provided an official response, outlining the present position of the scheme and its immediate administrative priorities.
The matter of increasing the annual PM Kisan payout was raised by Members of Parliament seeking confirmation on any ongoing proposal.
In its response, the government stated that no proposal to increase the benefit amount has been approved.
As a result, the scheme continues under its existing framework without changes to the payment structure.
Under the present arrangement, eligible farmers receive a total of ₹6,000 each year.
This amount is credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts in three instalments of ₹2,000 through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.
The scheme is designed to provide income support to small and marginal farmers.
A Parliamentary Standing Committee had previously suggested raising the annual assistance to ₹12,000.
The recommendation was made in view of increasing agricultural input costs and broader inflationary pressures.
However, the government has clarified that this suggestion has not been accepted at this stage.
According to the government, current efforts are centred on improving beneficiary verification.
New applicants in 14 states are now required to complete registration using a Farmer ID.
This step is intended to improve targeting, minimise duplication, and ensure that assistance reaches eligible farmers.
Since its introduction, the PM Kisan scheme has supported a large number of farmers nationwide, with significant funds disbursed through DBT.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to releasing instalments on schedule while maintaining the integrity of the beneficiary database.

At present, there is no change in the annual PM Kisan assistance, and farmers should not anticipate an immediate increase. Beneficiaries are advised to complete all required documentation, including Aadhaar linking and Farmer ID registration, to ensure uninterrupted receipt of future payments.
