Scheme details and disbursement amount

Launched in September 2023, the scheme initially provided ₹1,000 each to 1.13 crore women. It has since been expanded to cover 1.31 crore beneficiaries.

The current credit includes the regular monthly grant of ₹1,000 for February, March and April together with a special summer assistance of ₹2,000, bringing the total to ₹5,000 per woman.

Objectives and expected use

The grant is intended to assist women with everyday household costs, medical expenses, and education fees for their children. Officials highlighted that the additional summer aid aims to ease financial pressure during the hotter months when utility bills and food costs typically rise.
