Food Processing PLI Scheme Attracts Over ₹9,200 Crore Investment till December 31, 2025

Investments under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the food processing sector crossed ₹9,200 crore as of December 31, 2025, as per The PTI report.  

Data shared in the Rajya Sabha showed that 168 applicants have been approved under the scheme so far. The total investment reported by these approved entities stands at about ₹9,207 crore. 

Processing Capacity and Incentive Payouts 

The scheme has led to the creation of processing and preservation capacity of nearly 35 lakh metric tonnes per annum. Alongside capacity expansion, incentive payouts have also progressed.  

A total of ₹2,714.79 crore has been disbursed to eligible applicants under the scheme till date. 

Composition of Approved Applicants 

Out of the 168 approved applicants, 69 belong to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) segment.  

The remaining approvals include 2 cooperatives, 2 applicants in the innovative food products category, and 13 operating in the organic food segment.  

Scheme Conditions and Structure 

The scheme requires that the entire manufacturing process, including primary processing of the eligible food products, is carried out within India.  

This condition applies to all applicants seeking incentives under the programme and is linked to domestic value addition. 

Related Infrastructure Development 

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, 41 Mega Food Park projects and 401 cold chain projects have been sanctioned as of January 31, 2026.  

Of these, 25 Mega Food Parks and 302 cold chain projects are operational. The remaining projects are at various stages of implementation.
