The Canadian federal government has revised immigration fees from December 1, 2025. The changes apply to inadmissibility-related applications and International Experience Canada (IEC) work permits.

Online applicants who paid the old fees before midnight on December 1 will not be affected. Paper applicants may need to pay the difference to complete their applications.

Inadmissibility-Related Fee Revisions

The new structure covers applications for returning to Canada after removal, temporary resident permits, criminal rehabilitation, and restoration of status. Fees now range from $246.25 for restoration and permit categories to $1,231.00 for serious criminality rehabilitation.

Applications for returning to Canada after removal now cost $492.50. Temporary resident permits, which allow entry in compelling circumstances, rise to $246.25.

Restoration of Status Rules

Visitors, students, and workers whose temporary status has expired must apply for restoration within 90 days. The updated fees apply to restoration applications with or without new permits.

These changes aim to ensure timely compliance and reduce delays in processing. Applicants should check the revised fee structure before submitting their requests.

IEC Work Permit Fee Increase

Foreign nationals entering Canada through the IEC programme must pay the work permit processing fee. The fee has increased from $179.75 to $184.75.

IEC pools for the 2025 season have closed, and profiles can be submitted when the 2026 season opens. The adjustment reflects administrative cost changes and supports international work exchange programmes.

Payment Instructions for Old Fee Applicants

IRCC will contact applicants who mailed complete applications before the fee increase. They will be instructed to pay the difference between old and new fees.

Payments must be made through IRCC’s online tool under “Make an additional payment or pay other fees.” Applicants must submit the receipt as directed after completing the payment.

Conclusion

The revised immigration fee structure introduced on December 1, 2025, impacts multiple application categories. These include inadmissibility-related requests and IEC work permits.

The changes aim to improve administrative efficiency and align costs with service delivery. Applicants should verify updated fees before submission and follow IRCC guidelines for additional payments where applicable.
